The emphasis of our youth basketball league is threefold: 1) Individual skill development – both offensively and defensively. 2) Game understanding and IQ – team concepts will be taught concerning offensive spacing and movement as well as defensively position and help. 3) Competitive greatness and sportsmanship – through offering a competitive environment through specific drills, competitions, and game play. ***New this season – players will be placed on set teams at the beginning of the season and will play with this team for the duration of the season***
SKILL NIGHT PRACTICE PLAN Warmup: agility, stationary ball handling, transition Dribbling: strong hand, weak hand, change of direction moves Stations: Shooting: form, step into, off screen, off catch, off dribble Finishing Drills: off one foot, off two feet, shot fake, floaters etc. Offensive Concept: “v” and “L” cuts, “Get open” drills, pass and cut, pass and pick Defensive Concept: one ball, 1 pass away, help defense, rebounding HOW CAN PARENTS HELP?
